The recent roadmap announcement by Pi Network officials puts an end to the project’s long-held ambitions for an open mainnet launch in 2023. The much-anticipated release date is still a long way off.

On October 9, Pi Network released a “product roadmap” announcement, revealing that the highly demanded roadmap for Pi Network’s way ahead will be released in two versions. While the first version can be seen within a few days (late October), the second version is scheduled to be released in December, as per the official announcement.

The roadmap announcement hints at a delayed migration to the open mainnet.

What Exactly Does the Roadmap Announcement Say About Open Mainnet Launch?

The Pi Core Team (PCT) stated in the announcement that even the December version of the roadmap will not include a timetable for entering the open mainnet.

Instead, the roadmaps will focus on making the community aware of the journey it has made so far and the essential steps to be taken forward to make the Pi Network ecosystem stronger.

The roadmaps will provide sufficient information about the requirements, upgrades, and other initiatives to carry out before getting into the Open Network period.

When is Open Mainnet expected to be launched?

Pi Network does big things on special days such as Pi Day, Pi2 Day, etc. Therefore, there is a high chance that the open network will go live on any of these days in 2024.

Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th, and Pi2 Day is celebrated on June 28th. While March is too close to December (roadmap launch month), limiting the chances of an open network launch in March, June 28 appears to be an ideal date.

Therefore, there is a high probability that the Pi Network Open Mainnet will launch on June 28, 2024.

Why is there so much excitement about Pi Network’s Open Network Period?

Pi Network’s open network period will allow Pi coin holders to exchange their hard-minded digital currencies for other assets and fiat currencies via crypto exchanges.

For obvious reasons, the majority of Pi Network users joined the network in the hope that the project would benefit them in the future. Once the project goes into the open mainnet period, their patience will pay off. They can finally convert their Pi coins to fiat currencies or other cryptocurrencies as per their preferences.

This is undoubtedly the main reason for such incredible excitement for the open network’s launch.
